Looking to raise standards

LOCAL netballers are set to benefit from the expertise of four newly-qualified coaches.
James Robert, Kate Seabrook, Anais De Carteret and Zola Bourgaize have all successfully completed England Netball coaching qualifications this summer.
Seabrook and Robert passed the UKCC level one coaching qualification with flying colours and are already looking at moving onwards to level two and level three respectively.
De Carteret and Bourgaize also passed the UKCC level one and will continue to coach the under-16s and under-14s.
Robert, who has been coaching the island squad for two years and is one of only a few men involved with netball locally, has been fast tracked to level three as a result of his impressive performance through the assessment process.
‘I passed the level one coaching award this summer and as a result of my performance on the course and assessment days, the assessors have recommended that I progress straight to the level three award,’ he said.
‘I am really pleased that they feel I have the ability, experience and coaching skills to be able to miss out level two and progress straight to the higher level.
‘It is a big step but is one that I am proud to have the opportunity to do.
‘The course itself will take a minimum of 15 months to complete so will require a lot of dedication on my part.
‘I am very grateful to GNA, and their sponsor Praxis, who have supported all of us with funding for the coaching courses and it is thanks to them that the standard of netball in Guernsey can continue to improve through quality coaching.’Guernsey Netball Association: Four Sarnian coaches pass UKCC level one qualification
