A SALE of Sark’s history could raise an estimated £100,000.CM09_SEP_0427

Just under 300 lots from La Seigneurie will be auctioned by Martel Maides on 15 October.

The sale is by the Seigneur, Michael Beaumont, and the trustees of The Dame Sibyl Hathaway Trust.

Items are split between a private sale by the Beaumont family and those owned by the trust, set up by Dame Sibyl, Mr Beaumont’s grandmother.

James Bridges, consultant valuer at Martel Maides Auctions, said the trust had been established to protect items which were considered of importance to the island.

‘The trust had to decide if certain things were not essential to the island and these are being offered for auction,’ said Mr Bridges.

Money raised from items belonging to the trust will benefit charities in the island.

The Seigneurie is being let on a fixed-term lease with vacant possession with the plan that the heir to the title, eldest son Christopher Beaumont, will take possession when he retires.
