At 11.30am, half an hour into the show, the signal station informed the Ambulance and Rescue Service that a visiting female sailor was in trouble.

Station officer Andy Adam said the Flying Christine III was quickly on the scene.

‘We were already in the area for the air display, so came alongside the boat, Isca, at 11.42am.’

Two paramedics went aboard and helped a 52-year-old woman who had a medical problem. The cruiser was taken into the harbour. The woman was brought ashore at noon and was transferred to hospital.

Mr Adam said there was no disruption to the air show, which finished soon after 1pm with the Red Arrows.
