THERE was a patriotic flavour at the fifth Proms on the Pier event in Town on Saturday night.

A sizeable crowd enjoyed a variety of musical entertainment, a firework display and a live big-screen broadcast of the finale of The Last Night of the Proms live from the Royal Albert Hall.

Retired estate agent Noel Le Tissier said the flag-waving concert was a must-see.

‘Everybody watches the Last Night of the Proms and if we hadn’t been here, we’d have been watching it at home,’ he said.

Richard and Joyce Moore had been to most of the previous events and thought the evening was a great idea.

‘But in past years they’ve had bars and stalls selling food along the back and I just think that it’s spoiled the atmosphere a little,’ said Mr Moore, retired.

Since Last Night of the Proms is a British event, this makes me curious – especially after being an active participant in Your Shout for a while.

I wonder how many of our Your Shout readers feel patriotic about Britain?

Hey, come on Paul. Lets not have a dig for digs sake!!

If you dont feel that way, i’m sure you could live somewhere else and intergrate into their society!!!

Gsydonkee – you’ve completely misunderstood my post….I wasn’t having a dig, I was simply curious.

As a Your Shout participant for a while, I’ve read a lot of anti-British rhetoric around here so was curious how many people here actually felt British or patriotic about “Rule Britannia” etc. Some people seem to identify more with the Normans than the British for example.
