Carre dusts off his Dallara and goes sub 30 seconds
Tuesday 15th September 2009, 2:29PM BST.

JASON CARRE reckons he will be smiling through to next Easter after producing the outstanding drive on a remarkable day of record-breaking at the final Le Val des Terres hill climb of the year. Carre steered his powerful Holeshot Dallara 2000 to his first sub-30sec. time, his 29.95 on the third timed-run being the fastest time of the day. ‘I had in the back of my mind that if all went well we could take the record,’ said the 38-year-old yesterday. ‘To see 29 come up on the clock means I will be smiling to next Easter.’ Carre has had the Dallara five years, but until this summer it had been sitting idle as its owner concentrated on more pressing domestic matters, like building a house. ‘The car’s been sat in the garage and I nearly sold it twice,’ said Carre, who had not raced for four years before this summer. ‘But my dad said I’d be mad selling it.’ A 30sec. clocking at the previous hill climb had suggested Carre and his team were getting to grips with the car and its potential. But to post a 30.30 on his second run on Monday - 0.58 inside Mark King’s class record from 2005 - and then lower it further to 29.95 left him very surprised.
