Last 16 qualification

THEY made it hard for themselves but the island side are through to the last 16 of the FA National System Cup.
Goals by Ross Allen (pictured) on the hour mark and substitute Simon Tostevin finally overcame dogged resistance from the Northampton Town Football League on Saturday at the ground of Cogenhoe United.
‘It would have been a crime had we not won,’ said Guernsey manager Tony Vance who was happy enough with the green-and-whites’ general play but not the execution.
‘We had a lot of possession but our final ball was just not happening. We had loads of chances but the ball wasn’t going in.’
Northampton had only one serious attempt at goal and keeper Tom Le Tissier comfortably dealt with that long range effort.
