North 3, Sylvans 0
THESE three points for North should not go undervalued.

For Sylvans to leave Northfield with absolutely nothing to show for their endeavours last night was an injustice.

Yes the home side were deserved winners, but Clive Bateman’s young side posed a threat and as the season progresses they will certainly cause other title contenders problems too – and Mick Le Prevost knows it.

‘It was a good game of football and it was certainly not one-sided,’ the North coach said.

‘I told Clive at the end that his team had worked really hard, battled well and they were unfortunate not to get at least one goal.

‘But I was pleased with our performance. We played some very good football, particularly in the second half, and we scored three good goals.’

The difference came largely in the fact that North are an established outfit while the westerners are undoubtedly a work in progress, although it could have been a worrying night for the hosts had either Aaron Ferbrache or Wayne Bishop managed to convert either of their half chances in the opening quarter of an hour.
