NINE new records on the sprint and a further 14 on the hill added up to a brilliant weekend for the Guernsey Kart and Motor Club contingent in Alderney.

Eighty competed in the sprint and 86 on the hill as the Ridunian public were treated to two cracking days of noisy motor racing at Fort Corblets.

Fastest on the sprint was the emerging Glenn Tanquerel in the Jedi Suzuki 1370.

He won the small racing cars 1101 to 1600 class in a FTD of 16.34 which came on his sixth and final run of the day. Tanquerel, who has finished the season strongly and promises much for the 2010 campaign, managed to improve his performance with every run in Alderney.

He opened with a 17.84, managed to duck under 17sec. on his third effort and thereafter clocked 16.72, 16.71 and, finally, that record-breaking 16.34.

Tim Torode also ducked under 17sec. with a 16.98 on his last run in the Mallock 1300.

The class also included Mike Dean, the former national series competitor, who shared Torode’s Mallock and finished second, just 26-hundredths behind his co-driver.
