Jersey contingent find punishing beach
Saturday 26th September 2009, 2:29PM BST.

THE penultimate sand race meeting of the year was held on what was described as the wettest and roughest beach seen for many years at Vazon.
Although the Guernsey competitors coped well enough, the three Caesarean car drivers found it much different from the usual dry sand in Jersey.
All three visitors suffered mechanically, while the other ran better but ended up with a bent front end after attacking one of the corner marker barrels.
Two of the cars have remained in Guernsey for repairs so that they can come out for the last meeting of the year on next Saturday.
The main interest in the car classes was to see if Eric Trump (pictured) could get ahead of production car class 1,400-1,800cc leader John Dean to put some pressure on as Paul Stanford has retired for the final two meetings and will be giving up second place in this championship.
For the bike boys this was the final team challenge and with only seven senior riders present it was decided that the junior races would also be counted towards the team challenge, giving them even more incentive to race hard.
