ROVERS’ long wait is over.

Goals from Jamie Ferbrache and Blane Queripel gave the Port Soif outfit a 2-0 home victory over Sylvans on Saturday – the Blues’ first top flight win for more than a season.

It was also their first success under new boss Mac Gallienne.

‘They deserved it for the way they worked,’ said the winning coach.

‘There was little between the two sides and as soon as the goal went in it lifted a weight off our shoulders.

‘It’s been a long time coming [a win] and the lads were worried. But it’s good for everyone at the club.’

Clive Bateman did well to hide his disappointment and left no doubt as to where the main weakness lay.

‘Our final ball was very poor,’ said the Sylvans coach.

‘We had more possession and looked to play the better football. They looked to sit back and defend in numbers.’

Meanwhile, Rangers’ worst fears became reality when their weakened side were hammered 12-1 by Channel Islands champions St Paul’s at the College Field in the Deloitte Jeremie Cup semi-final.
