A YOUNG woman was knocked out in an unprovoked attack in the Moorings Bar.
Police are hunting the mystery female assailant, said to be aged about 40.
Nicola Sarre, 20, was out with friends and had just finished a drink in the North Plantation bar when she was attacked.
She has appealed for witnesses to come forward after the unknown woman walked up and, without saying a word, punched her in the face.
The force and shock of the blow were such that Miss Sarre was knocked out cold. She lay unconscious for up to two minutes.
‘We were sat at a table and as we stood up to leave, this woman walked over and hit me straight in my left eye,’ she said. ‘It was completely unprovoked. I don’t even know who she is.’
Owner Vlad Zekavica said that the weekend incident had been a first for the bar.
‘Moorings is usually a very safe place. We have two doormen plus myself. We check on people all the time.’
A police spokesman confirmed that an unprovoked assault had taken place at 11.55pm on Friday.
‘The offender is described as a white female in her 30s/early 40s, approximately 5ft 2in.-5in. tall and with a heavy build,’ he said. ‘She had long, brown, straight hair and was wearing a plain white baggy T-shirt.’
