Holding thin blue line ‘will be difficult’

THE police will be working harder to be more efficient and effective to keep within a tighter budget, according to chief officer George Le Page.
Speaking after this week’s release of the force’s annual report, he said the police, like all States departments, was examining where savings could be made.
‘We will be looking carefully at the budget for next year,’ he said. ‘We are having to prioritise.’
The number of training courses could be cut to save money.
‘We hope we can still maintain a front-line service, but it will be difficult. We will be looking carefully at how we spend our money.’
Including civilian support staff, the police force employs more than 200 people, many of whom work behind the scenes. But Mr Le Page (picured) said all were important.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
This is actually a very positive article. In a different time a different Chief Officer with a different political head would have been on the front page of the GP threatening front line service losses. Looks to me as Mr Le Page has taken a very rational response to the current clime.
Now look how Health have handled any suggestion of efficiencies…….
