JUST attack was the cry from the captain of the winning team at this year’s Credit Suisse Team Open golf competition at La Grande Mare.
Team Saga Louts, comprising Michael Bourgaize, Stuart Litchfield, Mark Bayes and Miles Dobson took the honours with 84 points, just one point ahead of runners-up Ollies.
In near perfect conditions, 41 teams were involved and Saga Louts’ Bourgaize explained his team’s tactics.
‘Right from the outset the game plan was to attack the course. Play it long [and] with the greens being as firm as they are to go in with short irons was all part of the game plan,’ he said.
‘As a team we knitted well, there were only two occasions when there were fewer than two of us “in the hole”.
‘We only had two gross birdies all day, one by Mark on the sixth for four points and a crucial one on the 18th for three, courtesy of Stuart.
‘My sand save on 17th gave us six points with Miles making a chip and putt from a very difficult fluffy lie just to the right of the green.
‘Playing in perfect weather conditions was a bonus and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day.’ Credit Suisse Team Open: Winners’ aggressive tactics pay off with title
