GUERNSEY’S bowlers went into the final day of competition at the alternative Island Games bowls competition in the Isle of Wight buoyed by confirmation that they had already won the two team gold medals.

More were expected to follow by the end of yesterday.

On the penultimate day the women’s fours of Jean Simon, Heidi Le Noury, Joan Shaw and Lianna Bichard – beat Ynys Mon 32-9.

It was a good team performance and a win that ensured they topped their group with three wins and qualifies them for the final against the Isle of Wight.

The men’s pairs of  Todd Priaulx  and Chris Dyer will play Isle of Man in the final after beating Ynys Mon 23-9, while Garry Collins is in the singles gold-medal showdown after a  tight 16-13 win over Shetlander  Graham Jamieson.

Collins had a bad start and was four shots down after four ends.
