SKATERS are hoping plans for a permanent skatepark at Beau Sejour will soon be approved.
At an end-of-summer skateboarding competition yesterday, Guernsey Xtreme Sports Association chairman Mike O’Hara said he was expecting for a call from planners any day now.
‘I was hoping to have some idea of what was happening to tell the people here today, but I’m still waiting,’ he said.
‘But we are hoping to have approval of the park plans in the immediate future.’
The association has long campaigned for a new park and temporary ramps at Beau Sejour are currently being used.
If plans are approved for the redevelopment of the children’s playground area behind the leisure centre, a concrete, below-ground-level skatepark will be built.
