THE last two Courtil Ash properties in the Bouet housing estate have been torn down.

The site, to be renamed La Rue Clouet, is being redeveloped by the Guernsey Housing Association.

The 54 States houses will be replaced with 55 flats in two- and three-storey buildings. These will be partial ownership and reduced rent two-bed properties.

Demolition began in July.

‘We have been out to tender,’ said association chief executive Steve Williams. ‘We just got them back in this week. We haven’t got all the approvals yet.

‘The building will probably not start until February but if we can do it any sooner, we will.’

The buildings will resemble those recently put up in nearby Rue des Marais and at Hougue a la Perre, formerly the site of the bus station. Solar panels will be a feature.

Mr Williams said the project would take about 20 months to complete but added that some of the flats would have people moving in sooner.
