FIVE artistic roller skaters from Guernsey have been chosen to represent Great Britain at the Cup of Europe in Portugal later on this week.

Emilia Bianco, Chloe Dyke, Lucy Ozard, Caitlin McNichol and Monica Dekker began their battle yesterday.

Bianco, 16, is skating in the silver standard for the seventh year having recently taken the British Champion title in July. She will be skating in the 16-18 year group junior solo in Portugal.

Dyke, 17, is also competing in the 16-18 year group and this is the eighth time she has represented Great Britain.

She and Bianco have been selected to represent GB in the Worlds in Germany later on this year.

McNichol will be competing in the Elementary age group (10-to 11-year-olds) for her second year.

She recently placed third in the British Championships, resulting in having to go through an audition to win through to selection.

Nine-year-old Monica Dekker is the youngest of the girls and representing GB for the second year in the Minis having come first in the British Championships earlier this year.

But for Ozard, 13, this is her British debut having come second in the British Championships in July thus earning her a place in the GB team this week.
