NOT a match in the early men’s and women’s Steve Le Poidevin Vase volleyball Leagues has yet gone to a deciding set.

In their first outing of the season, Orchard PR went on court hoping that their hard training would pay off.

With some good digging, the setters were able to set up some powerful attacks against the newest team in the league, Virgingamers.com.

During the opening points, the benefit of playing together previously paid off and was difficult for the new team to overcome.

As the game moved into the second set however Virgingamers.com tightened their game a little to produce some flowing three-touch play.

Ultimately, though, it was Orchard PR that proved to be the stronger side and won 2-0.

Orchard PR faced NashCopy Men in their next match, managing to push the more experienced team to 25-18 in the first set and 25-17 in the third, which gave them a huge confidence boost despite the loss.

Virgingamers.com played St Sampson’s (formerly Savills Men) for their second match of the season and although they tried hard, the powerful attacks of the more experienced St Sampson’s squad was too much for them.

The new team show potential for the future, however, and a seemingly endless supply of enthusiasm.
