Frith lifts GCA’s top honour

GUERNSEY’S ICC World Cricket League hero Jeremy Frith has been named the Guernsey Cricket Association’s Player of the Year.
The 31-year-old all-rounder (pictured) picked up his accolade off Sussex and Zimbabwe star Murray Goodwin at the GCA awards dinner at the Farmhouse last night.
It was no surprise that cricket coach Frith was named the player of the year after having what can only be described as a sensational year in the green of his adopted Guernsey.
‘He’s our high performance coach and he walks the walk by being our high performance player,’ said Guernsey Cricket Board chief executive Mark Latter.
‘A lot has been said about Frithy but, at the end of the day, he deserves it. You can’t ask for more than that.’
He was player of the tournament in ICC World Cricket League Division Seven held in the island in May when up against Bahrain, Gibraltar, Japan, Nigeria and Suriname, the top order batsman struck two centuries while amassing 381 runs. He also took 15 wickets during the weeklong event with his left arm orthodox spin.
Fellow Guernsey star, 22-year-old Cobo fast bowler Jamie Nussbaumer, was named the GCA Young Player of the Year.
