Desperques hits first ton of the season
Tuesday 13th October 2009, 2:29PM BST.
MARTYN DESPERQUES has struck the first century break of the season with a magnificent 107 coming in the second frame of his Individual Snooker League match against Tom Brock.
Desperques’ (pictured) move from his native Ex-Service raised a few eyebrows, but his form at the Gremlin has seen him threaten the mark in nearly every match since the switch.
Already 1-0 up, Desperques took the ultimate advantage of Brock’s missed red that saw the cue ball split the pack.
From there it was a controlled break from the defending champion, only running out of position on the pink from the final red.
It meant that Desperques was subsequently left with a long yellow that, although he potted, created further difficulty on the green.
This time, though, Desperques was unable to keep the break going with a possible 132 on the table.
That was not the end of the high breaks either.
Desperques immediately followed the century up with clearances of 87 and 57 – the latter coming when Brock, who two years ago watched Adam Shorto make two centuries against him, was 40 points to the good.
Desperques also took the last frame to seal a highly impressive 5-0 win.Individual Snooker League: Island champion in scintillating form

Can no one offer this young lad a sponsor and get him on the professional circuit? It seems that he is in the paper every other day so good way to advertise a company! He seems to be very good and surely if someone gave these young people the chance they deserve then there may not be so much trouble. Just a thought!
