ANDY PRIAULX put in a fine performance in Australia’s biggest motor race, the Bathurst 1000.
Called the ‘Great Race’, it is a 1,000km test of attrition around the Mount Panorama Circuit at Bathurst, New South Wales.
The three-time world FIA world touring car champion, who has experience of the Australia’s V8 Supercar series, came a creditable 12th out of 32 entries with fellow driver David Reynolds in their Bundaberg Red Racing VE Commodore.
‘It is really nice to now have the experience at Bathurst having finished it. I have come here twice before and have only done one stint,’ said Priaulx.
‘It was great to have the speed, the pace was good in the dry but the pace was really good in the wet. I can’t help but feel that we maybe should have finished sixth or seventh.
‘I would say I have a really good feeling about Bathurst and I am really happy with what happened and the way we worked together. Dave was brilliant with me, really helped me along and I hope I have helped him a lot as well.’
Mount Panorama is 6.213 kilometres long and is a very unusual design by modern standards with a 174-metre vertical difference between its highest and lowest points.
