Make it the winner

REDEVELOPMENT of Les Bourgs would be like winning the lottery every day, according the hospice’s director of nursing Jo Boyd.
A model of the new building has gone on display in the former post office in Smith Street and Mrs Boyd is urging islanders to buy their tickets for the £1m. lottery that will help fund it and make the dream come true.
‘There is no better way to support the redevelopment than by buying a lottery ticket,’ said Mrs Boyd.
Les Bourgs Hospice received £380,000 from Guernsey’s first such lottery, drawn earlier this year.
The draw date for the second was put back to 5 December because not all the tickets had been sold.
Top of Mrs Boyd’s wish list in the plans was a large garden.
‘This will allow patients to go out in their nighties or pyjamas or be wheeled out in their beds.
‘If people choose to, they can die in the garden – not unusual for a hospice,’ said Mrs Boyd.
She said the redevelopment would provide Guernsey with one of the best such facilities in the world.

Great to see the new hospice is finally on its way. I am sure islanders agree it is such an asset to the island and very much needed, not forgetting how valuable the present hospice has been and how many families it has helped over the last 19 years. It certainly helped my family and I cannot thank them enough for how they looked after my dear Mum.
