RAIN ruined the end of Phil Guillou’s 250 GP British Championship.
Competing in the final meeting of the 2009 series at Oulton Park, the Sarnian had a great qualifying session to find himself on the fourth row of the 40-strong field.
But just as the one-minute-to-start board came out, it started teeming it down, which forced all of the riders back to the pit garages to change to wet weather tyres.
However, as Guillou did not have any wet weather practice, the set up on his Yamaha TZ250 for the wet was not adequate enough.
Subsequently after the warm up lap, he had to retire from the race as he had no grip from the front end of the bike.
Luckily Guillou had another race – the 250 GP open event.
He qualified third fastest for the race and after putting in a good ride, he finished in third place.
Overall Guillou finished 11th in the British Championship and third in the 250 GP open championship.
Guillou is currently looking for more sponsors for next year and anybody interested can contact him on 07781 127435 or phil.guillou@cwgsy.net.
