GUERNSEY must build on their huge win at Guildford says first team captain Simon Sharrott.

The Greens were underdogs going to the second-placed team in London Two South-West on Saturday, but came away with a 17-13 victory that lifted them to sixth in the table, just two points off the four teams immediately above them.

‘This was a game that everyone knew we had to win,’ Sharrott said.

‘The lads went across with the right attitude and determination to get the result we required.’

Guernsey had a disrupted morning with fog and a plane fault delaying their departure, but they maintained concentration despite that.

‘Throughout the game we created chances, but seemed to lack that finishing touch and maybe a little bit of extra pace to beat the last man,’ said Sharrott.

‘We scored two very good tries both with great interlink plays from the forwards and backs, but the second try created by BC [Blair Campbell] has got to be a contender for try of the season.’
