LEGIS INDEPENDENTS notched up an impressive 5-1 victory over fellow new boys Clubhouse Casuals in the Investec Men’s hockey Division One at Foote’s Lane on Saturday.

‘It was pretty good,’ said Indies captain Peter Carey afterwards.

‘That was probably the best we’ve played all season. The work rate was fantastic from all the guys, as the last couple of games we’ve gone off the boil in the second half.

‘It’s good to get another win.’

Andy Alford put Indies in the lead within the first 15 minutes when the island playmaker found the back of the net with an ostentatious one-handed reverse stick undercut.

The oranges then went 2-0 up when Josh Kendal touched in an Alford strike from a short corner.
