A SEVEN-year-old Vauvert Schoolgirl has taken the chequered flag in the Fantasy Formula One competition – despite not being much of a fan.

Charlie Locke won the contest thanks to 1,984 points from her team, Lightning Bolt.

And she had quite an amazing announcement.

‘I don’t really watch F1,’ she said.

However, when speaking to this intelligent little girl, it is clear that she did not randomly pick her team. She knows her stuff.

Locke selected Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari and Brawn drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.

All of them finished the year in the top six with Button sealing the world championship in Brazil a couple of weeks ago.

But going into the weekend’s final meeting of the season at the space-age Abu Dhabi circuit, Locke had worked out that 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton could have ruined her party.

However, luckily for the Sarnian, the British driver had to retire after 20 laps due to brake problems.

And Locke’s prize for coming top? £100 of free fuel.
