Captain back to lead Greens
Friday 6th November 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
SIMON SHARROTT will lead out Guernsey for the first time this season tomorrow at Foote’s Lane.
The GRUFC first team captain (pictured) has recovered from the knee ligament damage he suffered in August and returns to the front row for the visit of Bognor (kick off 12 noon).
‘I’m definitely looking forward to getting the boots on again,’ Sharrott said.
‘I have come through two weeks of full training and [I am] raring to go.’
The return of the captain adds to the recent comeback of player-coach Jordan Reynolds as well as other squad members, which Sharrott feels will be of benefit to the team over the coming weeks.
‘The run into the Christmas break is always a hard one and often determines were you finish in the league next May,’ he said.
Guernsey go into the game on the back of their excellent 17-13 away win at Guildford, who are second in London Two South-West.
