Many people have tipped Colombians to walk away with this year’s Investec Men’s Division One and going by their performance at Foote’s Lane on Saturday they might be right.
‘The great thing about this performance is that we are improving every game,’ said Colombians captain Matt Watson.
‘A great team performance but the defence were superb again. At times, Casuals had us under some pressure and we had to hang in there.
‘The guys at the back do it week in, week out and allow us to play the way we want to and give us a great platform to go forward.’
Watson scored two of his side’s five goals with straight strikes from short corners while Chris Gill, Matt de la Mare and Tim Creasey weighed in with the others.
Watson gave special mention to his defence of Luke Jager, Matt Elston, Will Bisson and Reg Radford and to his goalkeeper, Kees Jager.
From the opposition, he picked out Chris Colclough, Mark Babbe and Damian Wallen.
He thinks Casuals’ first victory is just around the corner.
