AN INJURY-HIT MEC saw coach Mike Dorey having to choose from three injured players to complete his starting line-up against a Nashcopy side also suffering similar circumstances in the Women’s volleyball League.

With Ann Saunders carrying a leg injury, Sandy Ozanne a shoulder problem and Julie Elmy recovering from well-documented knee surgery, it was Elmy who took to the court.

The team played steady volleyball and, with good defensive play, they made her setting role easy and MEC took the set comfortably 25-15.

The second set saw the arrival of Sam Le Marquand, thus relieving Elmy.

This gave the versatile Sarah Hoskins the opportunity to capitalise on her excellent weekend’s performance at the Guernsey Open and she fulfilled the main setter position capably.

Again MEC’s court cover and serving was the stronger and with superb net play by Jennifer Lindfield and Andi Peters, they finished the second set strongly.
