Reserve keeper quits squad

TONY VANCE has given first under-21 starts to five players for tomorrow’s Ambassadeur Bowl defence at the Track.
But they don’t include Bels keeper Scott Rowe, who has left the squad after learning he would not be starting against Jersey. He is replaced by Tom Creed.
With four full island regulars in the starting side, including Alex Le Prevost who will be appearing in a record fifth Under-21 Muratti, the island manager was able to announce a side not short of experience and he expects to win.
If there is one shock pick it is that of North’s Nigel Hutton in the central attacking role.
The 18-year-old gets the nod ahead of Sylvans’ Wayne Bishop to partner Muratti man Glyn Dyer in attack.
‘We’ve got a strong squad and it was awkward to come up with the right people to do the job,’ said Vance (pictured).
But he expects to make full use of his subs and admitted that winger Matt Loaring, sidelined by hamstring problems in recent weeks, was unlucky not to be included from the start.
‘The biggest problem I had with Matt is that I was happy to start with, but I just didn’t feel he was ready. It has come a week too early for him. There is no way he would last 90 minutes.’
Vance said they would play 4-4-2 but given the terrible weather forecast there may be a need to adjust to the conditions.
