DESPITE Cenkos Amazons’ valiant efforts, Macinvest RWB made it eight women’s Channel Islands Club hockey Championships in a row on Saturday.
Jersey’s RWB had streaked to a 3-0 lead in the final at the Memorial Field before Amazons hit back with two goals early in the second half.
But unfortunately for the Sarnians they could do not find the back of the net again, which meant RWB continued their remarkable run in the annual competition.
However, Amazons were not too disheartened afterwards.
‘We were thrilled that we got to the final,’ said captain Leigh Le Page.
‘It was a great team effort. Everyone played really well. We were just unlucky at the end of the day. It would have been nice to have won, but last year was a Jersey-Jersey final so we’re up on that.’
Earlier in the day, Amazons had managed a one-all draw with RWB in their Pool B game.
RWB went on to win the group thanks to a better goal difference after they got the better of Jersey Ladies 5-0 and AG Group Panthers 3-0.
