Dawes wins in Jersey

LEE MERRIEN and Steve Dawes were both in excellent form over the weekend, hundreds of miles apart.

In the north-east Merrien opened his national cross-country

season with fifth place in the 9km senior men’s race at the Gateshead International, which is part of the McCain Cross Challenge series.

In Jersey, Dawes (pictured) took victory in the Caesarean half-marathon, clocking 75min.
