FOCUS HR SOLUTIONS started life with a 75-67 win over the Island Under-21s in Yorkshire Guernsey Division One at Beau Sejour on Saturday.
It was the newly-formed basketball side’s first competitive match.
‘It was a nice start for Focus HR Solutions,’ said their player-coach Kerry Smyth.
‘Dan Marriott played well and Andy Stephens led the team quite well, but really it was a good all-round team performance. It was the first step in a long season’
The U-21s’ coach Adam Farish was far from disappointed with the result.
‘Really, really pleased. It was our first time playing since last season’ he said.
‘With Jason Hooper moving on and a few of our senior side playing for Focus, we were a bit decimated on that front. But I thought we coped with it really well.
‘Max Hamon and Scott Rowe led the way and Sam Simon and Ben Phillips were outstanding in the game. They really stepped up and showed that they can mix it at the top level.’
The juniors’ next match is against Le Mont Saint Abarth on Wednesday.
