A MAN had a lucky escape when the wedding ring he lost in a recycling bin was found only a few hours later.

Graham Humphreys, 59, was putting tins into a recycling bin at Safeway when he discovered his 26-year-old ring had gone with them.

Devastated, he returned home and told his wife Rose, 60, what had happened.

She rang Public Services and asked whether there was a way of getting the ring back.

‘I never thought I would see it again,’ said Mrs Humphreys.

‘But they phoned to say they had found it – it was absolutely amazing.’

She said her husband was very pleased to have it back.

After Mrs Humphreys’ phone call, two Public Services staff went straight to pick up the bin from Safeway and five staff searched through its contents by hand at Fontaine Vinery.
