Sarnians claim inter-insular titles
Friday 27th November 2009, 2:29PM GMT.

GUERNSEY men’s and women’s pool teams racked up impressive victories over Jersey at the weekend.
The inter-insulars were part of the 2009 CI International Tournament World Eight-Ball Pool Championships held at Planet Pool in St Helier.
The event not only featured Guernsey and Jersey, but Belgium, Portugal A and B, Taunton and Somerset too.
On their way to winning the Championship, the Guernsey men’s team got the better of their Channel Islands’ neighbours 11-6.
‘We’re over the moon,’ said the chairman of the Guernsey World Pool Association, Trevor Kirk.
There was an incredible amount of tension when Guernsey met Jersey on the Saturday morning.
First out for the Greens, Mick Le Noury (pictured) and last out Craig De Carteret, were the only Sarnians to lose in the first round of games as the visitors powered to a 5-2 lead.
Le Noury redeemed himself next time he stepped up to the table to win the 14th frame and make it 9-3 to Guernsey.
Young Sam Bulmer, who in the junior inter-insulars in 2005 and 2006 potted the blacks to seal the win on those occasions, wrapped up the victory when he went up.
