A RESPECTED local fisherman has been killed in a car crash while on holiday in Thailand.
Howard ‘Tiff’ Griffin, 53, died as a result of an accident as he drove to a nearby shop.
He had gone to the country for a three-month holiday to visit the hometown of his wife, Bow, and their three-year-old daughter.
His wife is due to have the couple’s second child in seven weeks’ time.
Mr Griffin (pictured) also had two grown-up children, Richard and Sarah, from his first marriage.
Richard said that despite the divorce, the family had remained very close.
‘Dad would be home and having tea with us,’ he said. ‘Mum and dad were still good friends even though they were divorced. Everyone is obviously devastated. It’s such a shock you cannot really believe it.’
Mr Griffin was a well-known fisherman with more than 30 years’ experience of crab fishing locally. His first job was on former deputy Peter Bougourd’s boat.
