No such thing as cheating Jersey
Saturday 28th November 2009, 2:29PM GMT.

Flashback to Springfield and 1992 when Kevin Le Tissier used his right hand to set up a goal for himself. (0878187)
‘I actually think he did what most people would have done,’ says Le Tissier in an interview for latest instalment of the 20th-century Football Heroes series in today’s Guernsey Press.
‘It’s the officials who need to take the blame. It happens week in, week out.’
There has been international outcry after the former Arsenal striker’s blatant handball led to France defeating Ireland in the World Cup play-offs.
The former Guernsey striker knows how it feels to have diddled the opposition.
In the 1992 Muratti, the older brother of Southampton and England legend Matt Le Tissier, punched the ball over Jersey goalkeeper Steve Carlyon before slotting it home to equalise for the Greens.
They went on to win 3-2 in extra time.
At the time, Le Tissier had no regrets for his actions. Now, 17 years later, he reveals that he still doesn’t because it was a match against the ‘old enemy’.
‘There’s no such thing as cheating against Jersey,’ he says.

Kevin should study the philosophical tenet of
the Categorical Imperative as expounded by
Kant.
That any action, idea, or concept should become
a universal law.
So by Kevin`s standards all cheating must be accpeted in any circumstance.

It would be interesting to see the reaction if a Jersey player had done a similar thing – not quite so generous I’d imagine!

Paul Le Page
Jersey have cheated consistently over the years at various sports, cricket in particular.
Fair play to Kevin, I see nothing wrong with what he did.

Phil
Then presumably you see nothing wrong with Jersey’s (alleged) cheating either?

Football seems to bring out the lowest common
denominator in the, so called, sporting world as is shown in the above comments.

This is a fairly light-hearted topic I think, don’t take it all to heart.

A footballer thats worth his salt and has any honour should go to the ref and admit he put the ball in the net with his hand, good for footie and better still for that player.
