A MAN has died following an alleged assault in Town.
Gary Allen, 46, a self-employed tiler originally from Leicester, was flown to Southampton General Hospital after an incident at about 5.30pm on Wednesday on the front steps outside the Albion House Tavern.
Police confirmed on Saturday that he had died on Friday night from head injuries.
Detective Inspector Ashley Nicholas said police were liaising with officers in the UK to try and find out more details about Mr Allen through his father.
It is thought Mr Allen had worked in Jersey at some time but the local force currently had no indication of how long he had been in the island.
Alan Baker, 23, of The Studio, Courtil de Paradis, Doyle Road, St Peter Port, is currently remanded in custody for a week after being charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Allen.
He reserved his plea when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
- Anyone who was at the Albion House or in the area at the time of Wednesday’s incident and who has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact the station on 725111.
