THE Bridge was all geared up for Christmas last evening.

Shoppers were treated to a preview of the festive lights as they were tested during the first of St Sampson’s four late shopping sessions.

Bridge Christmas lights coordinator, and Ray and Scott Jewellers co-owner, Martin Search said they had worked hard to get everything ready.

‘On Sunday, we had to battle to put up the Christmas tree, but now it’s in place it’s all worth it.’

He said that late shopping was important for islanders.

‘It gives people a chance to come and have a look around and get some shopping done,’ he said.

‘It’s always very nice and there was a good atmosphere.’

There will be late shopping on the Bridge on Tuesdays 8, 15 and 22 December.

  • Father Christmas will officially switch on the Bridge lights at 4.30pm on Friday.
