Le Tocq chalks up title No. 5
Friday 4th December 2009, 11:29AM GMT.

A DISILLUSIONED Paul Le Tocq is halfway to his career goal as he won his fifth DHS Annual Closed Tournament men’s singles title last night.
The island’s former badminton development officer and Welsh national champion had very little problems overcoming Danny Penney at the Rohais Badminton Halls.
‘I’m halfway now,’ said the 27-year-old Customs officer afterwards.
‘I’ve always said that I wanted to put my name up on the board 10 times. I want to be the most successful male singles player from Guernsey.’
The result was never in doubt as Le Tocq (pictured) eased through the first game, winning it 21-6.
After a contentious line call in the second, Le Tocq stepped up a gear and showed glimpses of what he can really do as he took this game 21-9 to win the match.
It was the beginning of a good night for Le Tocq as he went on to claim the men’s doubles with former island champion Darren Le Tissier when they defeated holders Chris Dragun and Kevin Le Moigne 21-12, 21-17.
