NASHCOPY made it a men’s and women’s double in the Steve Le Poidevin Vase play-offs.

However, they achieved it in contrasting ways.

The men’s first and second play-off was a nail-biting five-setter against St Sampson’s, who took the opening set 25-23.

The second seemed to go along the same thread, with it being point for point for much of it, but again St Sampson’s emerged on top 25-20.

Nashcopy regrouped and managed to put their opponents on the back foot in the next, winning it 25-18, before they levelled the match by taking the fourth 25-21.

It was anyone’s game in the decider and the score remained tight, but Nashcopy were first to reach the changeover score and it was to be their night as they emerged victorious 15-12 to claim the Vase.

The Nashcopy women’s side were far more convincing winners in the inaugural year of their event with a straight-sets victory over MEC Guernsey Ladies.

Player of the match and team captain Karen Archenoul quickly established a 5-0 first set lead with her penetrating serve.
