Friday 4th December 2009, 1:00PM GMT.

Gary AllenPOLICE yesterday released a photograph of a man who died after an alleged assault, in an attempt to find more witnesses.

Gary Allen, 46, was allegedly assaulted outside the Albion House Tavern on Wednesday of last week.

He was flown to hospital in Southampton with serious head injuries and died on Friday night.

Several witnesses have already come forward but police are hoping the photo of Mr Allen might remind people if they had seen him on the day of the incident.

The police confirmed yesterday that a woman they were eager to speak to, believed to be a nurse, who had helped those giving first aid to Mr Allen, has come forward.

‘Police are asking for anyone that may have seen Gary Allen [Gary the tiler as he was commonly known] at any time during Wednesday 25 November to give them a call,’ a spokesman said.

Alan Baker, 23, has been charged with manslaughter and remanded in custody. He is due in court today.

Mr Allen was born in Nottinghamshire and had family links with Leicestershire. He had been working in Guernsey and Jersey for about six years.

It is believed he usually wore a baseball cap in public.

On the day of the incident he was wearing a washed-out blue cap.

n Anyone who saw Mr Allen last Wednesday, or who saw the incident, is asked to contact police on 725111.
