Le Mont Saint Fiat 75, Le Mont Saint Abarth 87
THE first Le Mont Saint battle of the basketball season went to under-strength Abarth.
Le Mont Saint Abarth enjoyed a comprehensive 12-point victory when they met their stablemates Fiat at Beau Sejour on Friday night.
However, Fiat feel that it is them that should have taken the honours.
‘From a Fiat point of view, we should have won,’ said Pete Beausire, their skipper.
‘We should have taken advantage of the fact that they were without Shek Sesay, Nick Lawlor and Phil Sweet who are three very influential players for them and we were only missing Jeff Stuart and Nick Leale. We just weren’t with the pace of the game.
‘To be completely honest, they out-played us and out-defended us. Fair play to them. They only had eight players on the day.’
