SANTA CLAUS made a special visit to the Friquet Garden Centre this weekend for the opening of its grotto.
With the opening of its new premises this year, the grotto, which was used at the Fruit Export store during the 1980s and 90s, was brought back.
Children queued up to hand over their wish lists and meet the man himself.
Acting centre manager Max Loeptien said they wanted to cater for younger families.
‘They are a big proportion of our customer base,’ he said. ‘We hoped it would make lots of young children happy. The kids get a small present.
‘The queue was huge before we opened. It was 20 yards long. It’s a huge success for us.’
Juliet Guilbert, 37, who works in private clients, had brought her two children.
‘They had a little grotto here last year,’ she said. ‘The kids were mesmerised. It’s really good.’
