SARK authorities were yesterday planning how to deal with a large landslip next to La Coupee.

The area has been sealed off as they wait for the land to stabilise.

Douzaine chairman Conseiller Edric Baker has visited the site with another committee member, Conseiller Andrew Prevel.

‘We’re waiting for an assessment and we will meet in the week to discuss it,’ said Conseiller Baker.

He hoped it could be dealt with on-island. The slip has blocked access to Grand Greve Bay.

‘There was a lot of movement there yesterday. Until that consolidates we can’t really say what the future holds.’

Sark Tourism’s Jan Guy confirmed there were no injuries after the incident early on Sunday morning.

‘It’s a major Sark beach and you can’t go down to it, but there are lots of others for people to appreciate,’ she said.

‘It’s been well-publicised in Sark, so no one is likely to go down there.’
