Watson eases through opener

HEATHER WATSON dropped only four games in reaching the second round of the Orange Bowl at Key Biscayne in Florida.

The US Junior Open champion beat wildcard entry Krista Hardebeck 6-2, 6-2.

Most of the world’s top juniors are among the 64 present at the event and Watson is one of just two Brits playing.

In the next round she will next play one of two Russians, either A. Marenko or qualifier A. Arshavskaya.
