Jersey’s former chief minister calls for joint tax work
Friday 18th December 2009, 2:30PM GMT.

A SOLUTION to zero-10 must come from a joined-up Channel Islands approach and not be rushed, according to former chief minister of Jersey Frank Walker (pictured).
In his first public speech since retiring from politics in December 2008, Mr Walker told guests at this month’s Chamber of Commerce lunch, sponsored by Image Group, that there were a number of ‘mega issues’ facing both islands, most notably coming up with an alternative tax strategy.
‘It has to be one of the most challenging and far-reaching decisions that Guernsey and Jersey have to make. It’s incredibly complex and it goes without saying that we must get it right,’ said Mr Walker.
And cooperation between the islands was key to coming up with a workable solution.
‘Both islands, and preferably the Isle of Man, need to take a long hard look at the options.
‘We do have time and we should be using that time to work together, in my view, to come up with the right answers. We don’t need to rush.’

Why is it that every time I see Frank Walker I think of two things:
1) His atrocious appearence on Newsnight (denying that a recording of him saying something along the lines of “I care more about the reputation of the islands than the bones discovered at the Haut de Garenne ex-childrens home”) was in fact him.
“No, thats not me”…. err yes Frank it was you cos the voice matched yours…..
2) His speech “no one has ever lost money in Jersey”…. (huh?)
and this guy was the chief top dog in Jersey!!!
I hope all of Guernsey realise what this guy really is and we just ignore him, perhaps his image in Jersey is tarnished and he’s trying to step across to Gsy to hide…??????
Go home Frankie!!
