St Martin’s 4, Bels 3
LUKE WINCH chose one of the biggest games of the season thus far to show exactly why Colin Fallaize was so pleased to lure him back to St Martin’s following his brief sojourn to Athletics.

The teenage substitute hit an absolute screamer worthy of winning any match to settle Saturday’s thriller at Blanche Pierre Lane in the home side’s favour and condemn table-toppers Bels to just their second defeat of the campaign.

Bels made the fatal error of standing off the youngster as he received the ball 30 yards from goal in the 82nd minute.

After a couple of touches to turn and get the ball from under his feet, Winch unleashed a fierce drive that was goal-bound from the moment it left his right boot.

‘Great substitution,’ was Fallaize’s dry assessment of the strike, before adding: ‘That’s what he is all about.’

The Saints celebrations that followed the goal as well as those at the final whistle 13 minutes later emphasised just how much this victory meant to the hosts.
