A GUERNSEY photographer has some of her work on display at a major exhibition telling the story of the swinging 60s in pictures.
Beatles to Bowie is on at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
Between 1963 and 1967, Fiona Adams photographed the cream of 60s pop culture including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and Dusty Springfield.
Her iconic image is on the cover of The Beatles’ 1964 Twist and Shout EP.
‘I never thought my work would ever get to the National Portrait Gallery,’ she said.
The museum’s curator initially approached Miss Adams to tell her of the exhibition and they met to discuss it in May. During her subsequent research she found a copy of her 1967 diary which confirmed that one of her more famous images, of Jimi Hendrix, was taken in the grounds of a hotel in Lincoln.
