Ferry waits for drivers caught in M27 snarl-up

CONDOR delayed yesterday morning’s Clipper sailing from Portsmouth so people stuck in tailbacks caused by a 20-car pile up could catch the ferry.
It was due to depart at 9am but an accident on the M27 just before 7am caused by cars skidding on ice caused massive tailbacks.
The ferry sailed at 10.30am with every booked car passenger on board but without eight foot passengers whom Condor had been unable to contact.
The ferry arrived in the island at 5.18pm, instead of 4pm.
There were delays and cancellations at the airport yesterday because of adverse weather in the UK.
Flybe flights to Southampton were delayed when the UK airport’s runway was shut. It reopened in the afternoon.
One Flybe flight from Gatwick was cancelled while one to Gatwick returned to Guernsey.

Folks,
I can’t believe that this makes the news – however top marks to the person that delayed the ferry – this is the sort of thing that I love about Guernsey. So come on Condor – find the man/woman that made the decision and give them a big firm pat on the back.

Well done Condor. Quick thinking that must have improved or saved a number of families Xmas.
I was on the ferry back to Portsmouth that was delayed due to this delayed departurefrom Portsmouth. However Condor continually updated us, had great staff on their number they supplied and most of the time lost was made up on the sailing back to Portsmouth.
I always book Condor Clipper for my Xmas trip back to the UK and will be doing so ASAP for Xmas 2010. great service.
